One of the emails was unique from Mr.Brain. He said, “I am from Indiana, helping my wife Kim find a reliable supplier. They need several basin waste applications in luxury high-end residential inside the bathroom drain. I see your website hofensanitary.com has a similar drain that seems more professional…”. and ask if we can make it.
Requirements
First, Kevin checked the requirements carefully, called back, and understood these applications for the luxury house, classic decoration in a villa, and unique hotel decoration. It’s for highlighting the luxury features, So they need to customize a particular project with a one-stop solution.
As the applications are with the luxury house, we carefully check all the details from the customer’s pictures of these two basin waste, functions, specifications, salt spray demands, ORB colors, and Package.
We Provide 2 Options
Colors will be exact based on the color atlas and salt spray test with 72H. The UNF thread and Package are the same with these two options.
- According to our existing models, There are three drain stoppers without overflow (1. click-clack drain stopper, 2 Grid basket strainer drain, 3.lift&turn drain stopper). The advantages are the same functions and saving the tooling cost.
- The three basin wastes are precisely the same as the customer’s models. Explore all-new tooling of the drain stopper body and wash rubber. The advantage is that it is 100% the same as the customer’s requirements without any risk but will require a high tooling cost for the mold.
We often let our technical department make some draft drawings and documents for communications with customers, and we do an online tour of our factory with customers. We quoted them with these 2 options: The drain stoppers are made from solid brass H59-1 with three times polishing and coating, and they will approve the salt spray test after functional checking. These drain stoppers come with 36 month’s warranty.
The customer chose the exact copy with new tooling, so the customer dispatched the original samples and package details to us one week later.
There are a few critical points. Because the thread of their drain is UNF from the United States, and the gasket EPDM is significantly thicker. The main thing is that the color is exceptional: oil-rubbed bronze. In the beginning, according to Brian’s inquiry, we consulted 11 plating factories just for the color, and only one could produce this color. Then, the rubber gasket and the body needed to be molded, but the setback came; the customer said he could not pay for the mold. After many communications, he finally agreed to pay for the mold only after the sample was tested and approved.
Explore Free New Tooling And Fabricate Samples
Finally, We agreed to open the new tooling mold for free, send samples, and bear the sample fee. There are 15 days of effort by Kevin and Sophia behind this. After more than 20 days, the samples were completed and looked good. QA&QC department checked it carefully and with three confirmations and approval. The samples were dispatched to Brian with confidence and expectation.
Time is flying; Mr. Brian said the sample passed the test but needed to add a manual according to their requirements. His wife did not want to increase the cost, which means we must afford the cost to cooperate, and then Kevin is actively promoting. Finally, We also agreed, and then Brian let Kim and Kevin dock.
Things did not go as smoothly as expected. Our initial order quantity was 1000 pieces each in our factory. But his wife-Mrs. Kim requested 500 pieces each only. Can you imagine the picture at that time?
The customer and Kevin did not want to give up on the project, struggling for over 5 months. Kevin took the initiative to call the customer to communicate thoughtfully once. After understanding the concerns of the first order, Hofen’s senior management finally accepted the customer’s request and order with Kevin’s efforts.
Since then, the official cooperation started, and before the mass production, Kevin sent two more free samples according to the color card to confirm; Kim was pleased.

This has been going on for more than 8 months. Kim thanked Kevin for his patience, meticulousness, and professionalism in the technical and quality control departments and promised long-term cooperation during a video conference. Hofen Drain also expressed that customer satisfaction is the first guideline, which will help customers expand the market together and give continuous help to maximize the benefits of customers.
Kevin took the initiative to send a third-party inspection report before shipment, which finally won Kim’s trust, and the cooperation has been smooth since then. The orders are growing steadily, which is very grateful to us at Hofen Drain.

Quality Control and Extra Services
We got the OEM order for some reasons as below;
- We have over 15 years of experience and know what problems quickly happen. It’s not the appeal of basin waste if displayed with a washbasin and faucet together, and a basin waste system is very important for plumbing drainage in house and commercial applications.
